Caledonia beats London 6-0 as Sinclair gains shutout

Mark Sinclair recorded a shutout against the London Nationals as the Caledonia Corvairs picked up a 6-0 win.

Corey Pawley was all over the ice for Caledonia, as he finished with two goals in the win. Pawley scored on the power play at 4:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia and again while 11:25 into the first to make the score 3-0 Caledonia.

The Corvairs were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. Caledonia surpassed its season average of 36.0 penalty minutes per game. The Corvairs forced Nationals' goaltenders to work without much rest, firing 35 shots and forcing 29 saves. Zack Weir made 24 stops and Connor Hughes made five. Caledonia excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Caledonia also got points from Matt Rimac, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Caledonia included Jacob Bianchi, Jake Brown, and Blake Luscombe, who each put in one. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Todd Ratchford, who had two and Austin Brown, Scott Dorion, Connor Patton, JC Thivierge, and Matthew Hore, who contributed one each.

London forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Nationals had been spending in the box. London did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Nationals average 3.9 goals per game.

Mark Sinclair made 29 saves for the Corvairs on 29 shots. Caledonia registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Corvairs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brad Johnson was ejected from the game. For London, Matt Doty was ejected from the game.
