Huge game by Masterson boosts Kitchener over Fort Erie, 6-2

Zachary Masterson had one goal and two assists to lead the Kitchener Dutchmen to a 6-2 victory over the Fort Erie Meteors.

Masterson scored 9:20 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Kitchener. Marselis Subban provided the assist. Masterson dished an assist on Alex Demrovsky's goal that made the score 1-0 Kitchener at 1:14 into the first period. He added another helper on Demrovsky's goal that made the score 6-2 Kitchener at 6:54 into the second period.

Kitchener pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 50 penalty minutes.

The Dutchmen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 11 chances.

Adam Kawalec also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Connor Cole, who had two and Scott Pedersen and Taite Wirschke, who contributed one each.

Fort Erie managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Meteors wound up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game.

Fort Erie was helped by Danial Singer, who tallied one goal. Singer scored 4:29 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Kitchener. Anthony Cybulski picked up the assist. Fort Erie also got a goal from Frankie Franck as well. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Ben Evans and Garrett Jennings, who each chipped in one.

Luke Richardson made 23 saves for Kitchener on 25 shots. The Dutchmen registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Riley Daniels recorded 17 saves for the Meteors. For Fort Erie, Mitchell Chake was ejected from the game.
