Huge game by Dozzi boosts St. Catharines over Elmira, 7-2

The St. Catharines Falcons' Nicholas Dozzi had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-2 win over the Elmira Sugar Kings.

Dozzi's tallies came on the power play at 2:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines and 7:02 into the second to make the score 4-1 St. Catharines.

St. Catharines pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 36 penalty minutes.

The Falcons' goal total was higher than their season average. St. Catharines has scored at the pace of 4.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Romaeo D`Intino, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Manny Manns, who also racked up one goal and one assist. St. Catharines also had goals scored by Justin Felker, Jake Evans, and Curtis Zahorodni, who each put in one. More assists for St. Catharines came via Tyler Jackson, who had three, Brandon Cercone and Evan Denley, who contributed one each, and James Guest and Broderick Kelly, who each chipped in two.

Elmira managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Sugar Kings finished below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. Elmira's offense rang up 33 shots on the Falcons' net.

The Sugar Kings were helped by Ryan Walsh, who registered one goal. Walsh scored 9:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira. Rob Kohli assisted on the tally. Zac Coulter also scored for Elmira. In addition, Elmira received assists from Ethan Skinner, who had two.

Joel Horodziejczyk recorded 31 saves for St. Catharines. The Falcons registered one goal on one power play opportunities. For St. Catharines, Tyler Hildebrandt was ejected from the game. Elmira's Mike Black stopped 22 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Sugar Kings registered one goal on eight power play opportunities.
