LaSalle rolls over Listowel, 7-2

The LaSalle Vipers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Listowel Cyclones.

LaSalle got the win behind a great game by Connor Matton, who had one goal and two assists. Matton scored 10:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LaSalle. Eric Kirby picked up the assist.

The Vipers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. LaSalle averages 3.8 goals per game. The Vipers found themselves short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

LaSalle also had goals scored by Tyler Russell, who had three and Liam MacDougall, Jarrett Tazzman, and Blake Jones, who scored one goal each. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Clay Kraynack, James Brooks, Connor Rosaasen, Kyle Auger, and Dalton Langlois, who each chipped in one.

Listowel kept LaSalle's goalie busy throughout the game, and Paolo Battisti made 38 saves on 40 shots.

The Cyclones were led by Riley Robertson, who had one goal. Robertson scored on the power play 14:09 into the second period to make the score 3-1 LaSalle. Listowel had taken the advantage when the Vipers' Nathan Veres got sent off for high sticking. Corey Flemington assisted on the tally. Listowel also got a goal from Brady Anderson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Kade Landry and Ben Shelley, who contributed one each.

LaSalle registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Vipers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nathan Savage was ejected from the game. Tyler Fassl recorded 22 saves for the Cyclones. Listowel ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For the Cyclones, Caleb Warren, Holdyn Lansink, and Jamie Huber were ejected from the contest.
