Guelph blows out Strathroy, 9-2

The Guelph Hurricanes had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-2 win over the Strathroy Rockets.

Guelph got the win behind a great game by Brody Milne, who had two goals and one assist. Milne scored the first of his two goals at 7:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Guelph. Cameron Stokes picked up the assist. Milne's next tally made the score 6-1 Guelph with 6:50 left in the second period.

Strathroy's power play was ineffective against the Hurricanes' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Guelph forced the Rockets' goalies to work all game long, totaling 33 shots and forcing 24 saves. Mat Ouellet made 13 stops and Dane Gubbels made 11. The Hurricanes outdid their season average for goals scored. Guelph averages 3.6 goals per game. The Hurricanes could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

Guelph also got points from Stefano Pezzetta, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Stokes, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Corson Searles, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Alex Ritchie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ryan Waterhouse also scored for Guelph. More assists for Guelph came via Sean Power, Nicholas Bird, Ryan Migliaccio, Quinn Hanna, and Tyler Burns, who contributed one each and Mackenzie Flewelling and Cameron Palmer, who each chipped in two.

Guelph's Christian Propp stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Hurricanes registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Strathroy incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
