The Brantford 99ers and the St. Marys Lincolns were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Brantford made the most of its opportunities and won, 7-5. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Matthew Woods's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Woods had two goals and one assist to lead the 99ers. Woods scored the first of his two goals at 2:35 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Zander Pryor assisted on the tally. Woods' next tally made the score 6-5 Brantford with 7:23 left in the third period. Brantford had gained a power play chance when Dan Heelis was whistled for head contact. Jack Phibbs picked up the assist. St. Marys' seven penalties came back to haunt it, as the Lincolns let up four goals while on the penalty kill. The 99ers forced Lincolns' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 42 shots and forcing 35 saves. Paul Town made 10 stops and Tyler Beattie made 25. Brantford surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The 99ers average 2.3 goals per game. Brantford got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Brantford also got points from Pryor, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Ryon Pereira, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brantford also got a goal from Christian Polillo as well. In addition, Brantford received assists from Kyle Walker, Sheenan Kirkwood, and Brett Parsons, who each chipped in one and Guy Polillo and Brandon Scanlin, who contributed two each. St. Marys' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Lincolns average 2.7 goals per contest. St. Marys could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The Lincolns were led by Tom McHenry, who had two goals. McHenry scored the first of his two goals at 2:17 into the second period to make the score 3-2 St. Marys. Mike Tuffin assisted on the tally. McHenry's next tally made the score 4-3 St. Marys with 14:35 left in the second period. Heelis provided the assist. St. Marys additionally got points from Brent House, who also tallied one goal and one assist. St. Marys also had goals scored by Ryan Martin and Nick Whitworth, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for St. Marys were Matt Granger, Tristan Gallant, Dan Cloutier, Graham Brulotte, and Nathan Smith, who each chipped in one. Andrew Lefebvre made 12 saves before being replaced by Will Rawski, who took the win and made seven saves. The 99ers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. St. Marys registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Lincolns ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cloutier was ejected from the game.
