Lloyd's big game bests Niagara Falls in 6-0 Thorold win

The Thorold Blackhawks' Jake Lloyd had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 6-0 win over the Niagara Falls Canucks.

Lloyd beat Adam Dentico with a shot 12:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. Brendan D`Agostino picked up the assist. Lloyd dished an assist on Cal Davis's goal that made the score 5-0 Thorold at 13:12 into the second period. He added another helper on D`Agostino's goal that made the score 6-0 Thorold at 14:32 into the second period.

Thorold put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Niagara Falls to score on any of its four power plays. The Blackhawks' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Thorold averages 3.0 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Thorold additionally got points from D`Agostino, who also registered one goal and one assist, Anthony Merante, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Davis, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Nick Sacco, who also had one goal and one assist. Thorold also got a goal from David D`Agostino as well. In addition, Thorold received assists from Greg Christmas, who had one and Francois Plamondon and Perth Swick, who contributed two each.

The Canucks' offense operated below their season average. Niagara Falls puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Canucks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Fraser Kirk made 23 saves for the Blackhawks on 23 shots. Thorold incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Niagara Falls' starting goalie, Adam Dentico, made 15 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Tynan Lauziere, who stopped eight shots.
