Elmira erases deficit to stun Brampton, 4-3Victoria Park Arena Fri, Feb 26, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Elmira Sugar Kings climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Brampton Bombers, 4-3. Elmira never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Sugar Kings was down 2-0 after a power play goal by Brampton's Nick Kiriakos at 8:31 in the second period. Elmira tied things up at 3-3 on a short handed goal by Zac Coulter at 19:37 in the third period. The Sugar Kings netted the game winner short handed at 19:47 in the third period on a goal by Coulter. Rob Kohli had two goals to lead Elmira to victory. The Sugar Kings were often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. Elmira had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Bombers were unable to stop the Sugar Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Elmira eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Elmira additionally got points from Coulter, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Elmira came via Kalob Witzell, who had one and Ethan Skinner and Mackenzie MacSorley, who each chipped in two. Brampton's offense rang up 32 shots on the Sugar Kings' net. Elmira's Liam Devine stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Sugar Kings registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Elmira, Alex Peterson, Ty Biles, and Kevin Fitzpatrick were ejected from the contest. Jason Rhynold rejected 28 shots on goal for Brampton. The Bombers ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For Brampton, Kiriakos was ejected from the game.
