LaSalle rips Strathroy, 7-3

The LaSalle Vipers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the Strathroy Rockets.

LaSalle got the win behind a great game by Manny Silverio, who had one goal and two assists. Silverio scored 14:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 LaSalle. Tyler Russell picked up the assist.

The Vipers forced Strathroy goalie Dan Davies to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. LaSalle surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Vipers have scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

LaSalle also got points from Daniel Beaudoin, who also registered one goal and one assist. LaSalle also had goals scored by Nathan Savage, who had three and Nolan Gardiner and Blake Jones, who each put in one. More assists for LaSalle came via Matthew Doucette, who had two, Liam MacDougall, who had three, and Eric Kirby and Brett Banwell, who each chipped in one.

The Rockets kept LaSalle's goalie busy throughout the game, and Eli Billing made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Strathroy was helped by Dillon Saunders, who tallied one goal. Saunders scored on the power play 12:06 into the second period to make the score 4-2 LaSalle. The Rockets had gained a power play chance when Beaudoin was whistled for boarding. Noah Tooke provided the assist. Others who scored for Strathroy included Max Ewart and Jeff Williams, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Dante Copps, Turner Balasin, Steve Griggs, and Liam Fordy, who contributed one each.

The Vipers totaled 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For LaSalle, Clay Kraynack and Nikko Sablone were ejected from the contest. Strathroy's Davies stopped 31 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Rockets totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Strathroy ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matthew Stevens was ejected from the game.
