St. Catharines erases deficit to stun Welland, 3-2

The St. Catharines Falcons rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over the Welland Jr. Canadians.

St. Catharines never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Falcons was down 2-0 after a goal by Welland's Jack Fitzgerald at 5:20 in the third period. St. Catharines knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Owen Green at 11:03 in the third period. The Falcons scored the game winner on the power play at 15:23 in the third period on a goal by Green.

Green had a great game for St. Catharines, netting two goals.

The Falcons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Jr. Canadians were unable to stop St. Catharines from sending pucks towards the net, and the Falcons eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. St. Catharines could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

St. Catharines also got a goal from Mitchell Webb as well. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from James Guest and Brandon Vuic, who each chipped in one and Jake Evans and Nicholas Dozzi, who contributed two each.

Welland was helped by Dylan Daigneault, who tallied one goal. Daigneault scored 10:19 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Welland. Jake Shaw provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Tyler Stranges, who had one and Nathan MacDuff, who had two.

Joel Horodziejczyk rejected 20 shots on goal for the Falcons. St. Catharines registered two goals on five power play opportunities. The Jr. Canadians' Chris Janzen stopped 40 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Welland incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
