Faubert's big game bests London in 8-4 Chatham win

The Chatham Maroons' Ian Faubert had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 8-4 win over the London Nationals.

Faubert got on the board by slotting home a goal 10:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chatham. Austin Thompson picked up the assist. Faubert dished an assist on Steven Beenackers's goal that made the score 5-2 Chatham at 2:38 into the third period. He added another helper on Thompson's goal that made the score 6-3 Chatham at 5:38 into the third period.

Chatham forced Nationals' goalies to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots and forcing 38 saves. Noah Hedrick made zero stops and Zack Weir made 38. The Maroons' goal total was higher than their season average. Chatham averages 4.8 goals per game. The Maroons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 50 minutes in penalties during the game.

Chatham additionally got points from Dede Cato, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Gus Ford, who also had one goal and one assist, Thompson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Beenackers, who also registered one goal and two assists. Chatham also got a goal from Declan Conway as well. In addition, Chatham received assists from Michael Douglas, who had three and Parker Butler, Connor McKinnon, Ryan Fraser, Connor Koviak, Ross Krieger, and Teddy McGeen, who each chipped in one.

London forced Chatham goalie Butler to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Nationals could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 52 minutes in penalties during the game.

London was helped by Rai Di Loreto, who registered one goal. Di Loreto scored on the power play 2:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chatham. The Nationals had gained a power play chance when Ford was whistled for cross checking. Austin Kemp assisted on the tally. Kyle Robinson also scored for London. Other players who recorded assists for London were Tanner Ferreira, Scott Dorion, Kevin Madden, Jordan Di Cicco, Brenden Trottier, and Max Vinogradov, who contributed one each.

The Maroons' Butler stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Chatham registered three goals on nine power play opportunities. London registered two goals on eight power play opportunities.
