The Brantford 99ers tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Kitchener Dutchmen would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-5. Kitchener made the score 6-3 on a goal by Connor Cole at 6:09 in the third period, and Brantford got as close as 6-5 when Jay Dekker scored 9:27 into the third period. The Dutchmen got the win behind a great game by Cole, who had two goals and three assists. Cole scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:49 into the first period to make the score 2-2. A hooking penalty on Isaac Nurse had put Kitchener on the power play. Adam Kawalec assisted on the tally. Cole's next tally on the power play made the score 6-3 Kitchener with 13:51 left in the third period. Ryan Migliaccio picked up the assist. The Dutchmen kept the 99ers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tristan Lewis made 25 saves on 31 shots. Kitchener's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Dutchmen average 2.4 goals allowed per game. Kitchener cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances. Kitchener additionally got points from Migliaccio, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Kawalec, who also registered one goal and three assists. Kitchener also had goals scored by Matthew Cruickshank and Jason Willms, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Michael Alberga, who had two and Logan Schmidt and Austin Gaboury, who contributed one each. Brantford forced the Dutchmen goalie Luke Richardson to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The 99ers bested their season scoring average. Brantford has scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Brantford also got points from Christian Polillo, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kyle Walker, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Jonathan Pace also scored for Brantford. In addition, Brantford received assists from Guy Polillo, who had one and Matt Scanlin, who had two. Richardson recorded 34 saves for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The 99ers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
