Cole's big game bests Brantford in 5-1 Kitchener win

The Kitchener Dutchmen's Connor Cole had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 5-1 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Cole scored 5:22 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kitchener. Adam Kawalec picked up the assist. Cole dished an assist on Kawalec's goal that made the score 1-0 Kitchener at 14:40 into the first period. He added another helper on Nathan Grossi's goal that made the score 5-1 Kitchener at 16:51 into the third period.

Kitchener excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Dutchmen forced Brantford goalie Will Rawski to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Kitchener could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Kitchener also got points from Kawalec, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kitchener also got a goal from Owen Lane as well. More assists for Kitchener came via Michael Alberga, Marselis Subban, Austin Gaboury, Ryan Migliaccio, and Jason Willms, who contributed one each.

The 99ers stifled the Dutchmen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Brantford was led by Nick Visser, who scored the team's only goal. Visser scored 12:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kitchener. Matt Zilke assisted on the tally.

Cossimo Lazzarino recorded 21 saves for Kitchener. The Dutchmen registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Will Rawski made 33 saves for the 99ers on 37 shots. Brantford incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
