Stratford rips Brampton, 8-4

The Stratford Cullitons had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-4 win over the Brampton Bombers.

Stratford got the win behind a great game by Justin Graham, who had one goal and two assists. Graham scored 16:31 into the third period to make the score 8-3 Stratford. Josh Miller picked up the assist.

The Cullitons pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 43 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:12 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Stratford stifled Brampton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bombers were unable to stop the Cullitons from sending pucks towards the net, and Stratford eventually piled up 58 shots on goal. The Cullitons outdid their season average for goals scored. Stratford has scored at the pace of 4.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Stratford also got points from Zach Van Louwe, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stratford included Jared Nash, who had two and Brock Heshka, Jack Scanlan, Rob Grant, and Maverick Petrie (APJ), who scored one goal each. More assists for Stratford came via Brady Hinz, who had two and Tyson Kielt, Deven Kropf, Zander Pryor, Hayden Broomhead, and Tyson Baker, who contributed one each.

Brampton forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 73 minutes in penalty time. The Bombers surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. Brampton's power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on 10 chances.

The Bombers were led by Nolan Regan, who tallied three goals and one assist. Brampton additionally got points from Wyatt Weppler, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Jordan Oshowy, who had two and Drew Stirling, Jonathan Prasnjak, Ramon Lopez, and Patrick Zilak, who each chipped in one.

Carson Poulin made 24 saves for the Cullitons on 28 shots. Stratford registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Cullitons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Josh Higgins was ejected from the game. Brampton's Jason Rhynold stopped 50 shots out of the 58 that he faced. Team's Cameron Cruickshank and Nick Kiriakos were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
