Guelph pulls away in second, rolls over Brampton, 9-1

The Brampton Bombers allowed the Guelph Hurricanes to net six goals during the second period and fell, 9-1.

Corson Searles had one goal and two assists to lead Guelph. Searles scored 9:05 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Guelph. Nicholas Bird provided the assist.

The Hurricanes forced Brampton's goaltenders to work all game long, launching 35 shots and forcing 26 saves. Eric Pitcher made 13 stops and Jason Rhynold made 13. Guelph's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Brampton power plays. The Hurricanes surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Guelph averages 3.8 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Guelph additionally got points from Stefano Pezzetta, who also had one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Sebastian Stangherlin, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Lucas Dybowski, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Guelph also had goals scored by Ryan Waterhouse, who had three and Quinn Hanna and Brody Milne, who scored one goal each. In addition, Guelph received assists from Chris Poletek, Cameron Stokes, David Elford, and Alex Ritchie, who each chipped in one and Kevin Gergely and Dylan Wallace, who contributed two each.

The Bombers stifled the Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Brampton was led by Cameron Cruickshank, who scored the team's only goal. Cruickshank scored 3:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Jordan Oshowy picked up the assist.

Jason DaSilva rejected 22 shots on goal for Guelph. The Hurricanes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Bombers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
