The Kitchener Dutchmen used a sparkling performance by Luke Richardson to take down the Cambridge Winter Hawks, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Kitchener's 4-0 shutout victory. Cambridge's power play was ineffective against the Dutchmen's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Kitchener was led by Austin Gaboury, who had one goal. More assists for Kitchener came via Michael Alberga, Logan Schmidt, and Jake Ovens, who each chipped in one. Cambridge's offense operated below its season average. The Winter Hawks average 2.6 goals per game. Cambridge could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 48 minutes in penalties during the game. Richardson rejected 25 shots on goal for Kitchener. The Dutchmen registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For Kitchener, Alberga was ejected from the game. Owen Savory made 44 saves for the Winter Hawks on 48 shots. Cambridge ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Somani was ejected from the game.
