Ancaster's Pollice deadly on offense in 5-1 win against Pelham

Behind a great game by Michael Pollice, who had two goals, the Ancaster Avalanche defeated the Pelham Panthers, 5-1.

Pollice's tallies came on the power play at 8:51 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Ancaster and short handed 13:25 into the second to make the score 3-1 Ancaster.

Ancaster was led by goalie Cole Ceci, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. Ceci certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.46 entering the contest.

The Avalanche pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 40 penalty minutes.

Ancaster stifled Pelham's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Avalanche forced the Panthers goalie Stephen Harvey to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Ancaster also got points from Ben Hughes, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Owen Burnell, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Ancaster also got a goal from Owen Norton as well. More assists for Ancaster came via Dustin Burr and Lucas Pozzobon, who contributed one each and Fedor Gordeev and Joshua Pace, who each chipped in two.

Pelham racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. The Panthers surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Pelham got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its nine chances.

The Panthers were led by Caleb Mussat, who scored the team's only goal. Mussat scored 15:50 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Thomas Young assisted on the tally.

Ancaster registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. Team's Adam Meijer and Ryan Knill were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Stephen Harvey made 36 saves for Pelham on 41 shots. For the Panthers, Hunter Swain and Riley Hollowell were ejected from the contest.
