Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nicolas Mainella's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Sarnia's power play was ineffective against the Flyers' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Leamington was sparked by Mainella, who finished with one goal. Mainella scored 8:32 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Leamington. Zach Guilbeault picked up the assist.

The Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Leamington could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.
