Chatham pulls away in second, rolls over St. Marys, 8-3Pyramid Recreation Centre Fri, Feb 05, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Marys Lincolns allowed the Chatham Maroons to net four goals during the second period and fell, 8-3. Declan Conway was all over the ice for Chatham, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Conway scored 2:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chatham. Steven Beenackers assisted on the tally. The Maroons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Marys to score on any of its four power plays. Chatham found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Maroons average 4.6 goals per contest. The defensemen of Chatham were also effective in the Lincolns' zone, and came away with two goals. Chatham additionally got points from Connor McKinnon, who also had one goal and one assist, Beenackers, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Teddy McGeen, who also registered two goals and one assist. Chatham also had goals scored by Ryan Fraser, Chris Corgan, and Ian Faubert, who each put in one. In addition, Chatham received assists from Connor Koviak, who had three, Mark Fratarcangelli and Michael Levesque, who contributed one each, and Michael Douglas and Ross Krieger, who each chipped in two. St. Marys' offense rang up 31 shots on the Maroons' net. The Lincolns were helped by Jeff Schrattner, who finished with one goal. Schrattner scored 11:14 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Chatham. Brent House picked up the assist. St. Marys also got points from House, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Nolan King also scored for St. Marys. More assists for St. Marys came via Matt Granger, Jordan Winter, Ryan Martin, and Curtis Abbott, who contributed one each. Chatham's Parker Butler stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Maroons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Chatham ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Fratarcangelli was ejected from the game. St. Marys' starting goalie, Emanuel Vella, made 15 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Paul Town, who stopped five shots. The Lincolns incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
