Guelph falls to Brampton in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Brampton Bombers' Jordan Kreller scored 2:35 into overtime to beat the Guelph Hurricanes, 4-3 (OT).

Brampton overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Bombers fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Guelph's Jake Wyse at 17:51 in the second period. Brampton tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Mitch Shennette at 9:56 in the third period.

Yianni Liarakos had two goals and one assist to lead the Bombers. Liarakos scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brampton had gained a power play chance when Kevin Gergely was whistled for slashing. Shennette assisted on the tally. Liarakos' next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Guelph with 18:45 left in the third period. Mike Rehding picked up the assist.

The Bombers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Hurricanes were unable to stop Brampton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bombers eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

Brampton additionally got points from Shennette, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Drew Stirling, Jonathan Prasnjak, Ramon Lopez, and Patrick Zilak, who each chipped in one.

Guelph's offense rang up 60 shots on Brampton's net.

The Hurricanes were helped by Alex Ritchie, who registered one goal. Ritchie scored 4:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Guelph. Quinn Hanna assisted on the tally. Guelph also got points from Wyse, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Lucas Dybowski also scored for Guelph. More assists for Guelph came via Sebastian Stangherlin, Ryan Waterhouse, and Brody Milne, who contributed one each.

The Bombers' Jason Rhynold stopped 57 shots out of the 60 that he faced. Brampton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Christian Propp recorded 45 saves for Guelph. The Hurricanes incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
