The Cambridge Winter Hawks could not stop the Guelph Hurricanes' Cameron Stokes, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-3 win. Stokes got on the scoresheet 19:03 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:15 into the second and at 19:51 into the third.Guelph's penalty kill excelled, as the Hurricanes gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays. Guelph forced Cambridge goalie Owen Savory to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. The Hurricanes could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Others who scored for Guelph included Nicholas Bird and Brody Milne, who each put in one. More assists for Guelph came via Jake Wyse, Stefano Pezzetta, Sebastian Stangherlin, Chris Poletek, Sean Power, David Elford, Ryan Burns, and Tyler Burns, who contributed one each. Guelph was unable to stop the Winter Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Cambridge eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Winter Hawks were helped by Sean Ross, who finished with two goals and one assist. Ross scored the first of his two goals at 50 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge. Kyle Heitzner assisted on the tally. Ross' next tally made the score 3-2 Guelph with 15:28 left in the third period. Cambridge had gotten the advantage when the Hurricanes' Bird was sent off for slashing. Heitzner picked up the assist. Cambridge also got points from Robert Proner, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jason DaSilva rejected 30 shots on goal for Guelph. The Hurricanes registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Winter Hawks' Savory stopped 46 shots out of the 50 that he faced. Cambridge incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
