Chatham falls to LaSalle after surprising comeback

The LaSalle Vipers rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Chatham Maroons.

LaSalle let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Vipers took a 2-1 advantage on a power play goal by Manny Silverio at 11:32 in the first period. LaSalle went down 4-2 after Chatham's Ian Faubert put the puck home at 8:58 in the second period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Brett Primeau at 18:45 in the second, the Vipers got the game-winner from Cale Allen at 7:35 in the third period.

LaSalle stifled the Maroons' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Chatham was unable to stop the Vipers from sending pucks towards the net, and LaSalle eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Others who scored for LaSalle included Liam MacDougall and Nathan Veres, who scored one goal each. More assists for LaSalle came via Nathan Savage, who had two and Paolo Battisti, Zack Hoffman, Connor Matton, Eric Kirby, Ryan Sarris, Tyler Russell, and Daniel Beaudoin, who contributed one each.

The Maroons' offense rang up 42 shots on the Vipers' net. The defensemen of Chatham were also effective in LaSalle's zone, and came away with two goals.

Chatham also had goals scored by Connor McKinnon, Ryan Fraser, and Steven Beenackers, who each put in one. In addition, Chatham received assists from Gus Ford, who had two and Declan Conway and Mark Fratarcangelli, who each chipped in one.

Battisti recorded 38 saves for the Vipers. LaSalle incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Maroons' Parker Butler stopped 31 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Chatham incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
