Lazzarino leads Kitchener to shutout victory over ListowelListowel Arena Fri, Jan 29, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kitchener Dutchmen used a sparkling performance by Cossimo Lazzarino to take down the Listowel Cyclones, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Kitchener's 2-0 shutout victory. The Dutchmen pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes. Kitchener was paced by Jason Willms, who registered one goal. Willms scored 17:55 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Austin Gaboury provided the assist. The Dutchmen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Listowel to score on any of its 10 power plays. Kitchener could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Dutchmen put an average of 4.9 pucks into the net per game. Kitchener's defense was surprisingly good. The Dutchmen average 2.6 goals allowed per game. Matthew Cruickshank also scored for Kitchener. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Ryan Migliaccio and Adam Kawalec, who contributed one each. The Cyclones were held below their usual level of production. Listowel averages 3.8 goals per game. Lazzarino recorded 29 saves for Kitchener. The Dutchmen registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Cyclones' Tyler Fassl stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Listowel incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
