Yowart leads Sarnia over St. Marys, 6-3

Brad Yowart had one goal and two assists to lead the Sarnia Legionnaires to a 6-3 victory over the St. Marys Lincolns.

Yowart beat Emanuel Vella with a shot 9:49 into the first period on the power play to make the score 1-0 Sarnia. Sarnia had gained a power play chance when Colin Capstick was whistled for tripping. Ryan Vendramin assisted on the tally. Yowart dished an assist on Brandon Layman's goal that made the score 4-2 Sarnia at 4:15 into the third period. He added another helper on Brock Perry's goal that made the score 5-2 Sarnia at 13:14 into the third period.

The Legionnaires forced St. Marys' goalies to work without much rest, ripping 33 shots and forcing 27 saves. Vella made 18 stops and Paul Town made nine. Sarnia bested its season scoring average. The Legionnaires average 3.4 goals per game.

Sarnia also got points from Layman, who also registered one goal and one assist and Perry, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Sarnia also had goals scored by Jacob Stos and Jordan Fogarty, who each put in one. More assists for Sarnia came via Ethan Dupont, Eric Marsh, Brendan Shagena, Alec DeKoning, and Konnor Roskovich, who each chipped in one.

The Lincolns were helped by Nathan Smith, who finished with one goal. Smith scored on the power play 19:52 into the first period to make the score 2-2. A head contact penalty on Brett Storr had put St. Marys on the power play. Nolan King picked up the assist. St. Marys additionally got points from Graham Brulotte, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Marys also got a goal from Brent House as well. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Matt Granger and Jeff Schrattner, who contributed one each.

Shayne Battler rejected 21 shots on goal for Sarnia. The Legionnaires incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Lincolns incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
