St. Catharines outlasts Thorold, 4-2

The game between the St. Catharines Falcons and the Thorold Blackhawks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end St. Catharines emerged with a 4-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and James Guest's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Falcons pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes.

St. Catharines was led by Guest, who finished with one goal. Guest scored 16:57 into the third period to make the score 3-2 St. Catharines. Mitchell Webb picked up the assist.

The Falcons' offense rang up 42 shots on Thorold's net. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Others who scored for St. Catharines included Broderick Kelly, Romaeo D`Intino, and Tyler Jackson, who each put in one. More assists for St. Catharines came via Jack Webb, Jake Evans, Ty Learn, Brandon Cercone, Nicholas Dozzi, and Tyler Hildebrandt, who each chipped in one.

The Blackhawks were helped by Nick Sacco, who racked up one goal. Sacco scored on the power play 13:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. Thorold had gained a power play chance when Noah Berlic was whistled for roughing after whistle. Francois Plamondon assisted on the tally. Thorold also got a goal from Adam Kozlowski as well. In addition, Thorold received assists from Zach Stamates and Aaron Nunes, who contributed one each.

Joel Horodziejczyk made 28 saves for St. Catharines on 30 shots. The Falcons registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Josh Astorino recorded 38 saves for the Blackhawks. Thorold incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
