Guelph erases deficit to stun Cambridge, 4-3

The Guelph Hurricanes rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

Guelph let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Hurricanes took a 3-2 advantage on a power play goal by Brody Milne at 3:20 in the second period. Guelph found itself down 2-0 after Cambridge's Jackson White (APJ) put the puck home at 6:58 in the first period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jake Beard at 9:14 in the second, the Hurricanes got the game-winner from Alex Ritchie at 9:31 in the third period.

Guelph pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes.

The Hurricanes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Winter Hawks were unable to stop Guelph from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Guelph also got points from Ryan Burns, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Milne, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Corson Searles also scored for Guelph. More assists for Guelph came via Jake Wyse, Chris Poletek, Cameron Stokes, and Cameron Palmer, who contributed one each.

Cambridge's offense rang up 39 shots on Guelph's net.

Cambridge also got a goal from Matt MacKay as well. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Kyle Heitzner, Yianni Skropolis, Tyler Harrison, Mathieu Mercier, and Liam Hurley, who each chipped in one.

Christian Propp made 36 saves for the Hurricanes on 39 shots. Guelph registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Owen Savory rejected 29 shots on goal for the Winter Hawks. Cambridge incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
