Cambridge falls to Guelph in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Guelph Hurricanes pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks on a clutch goal by Ryan Burns.

Guelph was sparked by Burns, who had one goal. Burns scored 1:17 into overtime to make the score 4-3 Guelph. Brody Milne provided the assist.

The Hurricanes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Cambridge power plays. Cambridge was unable to stop Guelph from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Guelph included Dylan Wallace, Corson Searles, and Quinn Hanna, who each put in one. In addition, Guelph received assists from Jake Wyse, Stefano Pezzetta, Sean Power, and Cameron Palmer, who each chipped in one.

The Winter Hawks were helped by Mathieu Mercier, who registered one goal. Mercier scored 12:42 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Guelph. Matt MacKay assisted on the tally. Cambridge also had goals scored by Jonathan Giordano and Sean Ross, who scored one goal each. More assists for Cambridge came via Scott Del Zotto, Kyle Heitzner, Mitch Montgomery, Matt Steen, and Liam Hurley, who contributed one each.

Guelph's Jason DaSilva stopped 15 shots out of the 18 that he faced. The Hurricanes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Owen Savory recorded 32 saves for Cambridge. The Winter Hawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
