Listowel wins tough contest against Brantford, 3-2

The game between the Listowel Cyclones and the Brantford 99ers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Listowel emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jamie Huber at 11:00 of the third period.

Jordan Caskenette had two goals and one assist to lead the Cyclones. Caskenette scored the first of his two goals at 6:34 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Kade Landry picked up the assist. Caskenette's next tally made the score 2-1 Listowel with 7:06 left in the second period.

Listowel's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Brantford power plays. The Cyclones kept Brantford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Will Rawski made 37 saves on 40 shots.

In addition, Listowel received assists from Keaton Willis and Scott Pedersen, who contributed one each.

The 99ers stifled Listowel's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Brantford was helped by Jay Dekker, who tallied one goal. Dekker scored 13:37 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Matthew Woods assisted on the tally. Brantford also got a goal from Jack Phibbs as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Matt Scanlin and Isaac Nurse, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Fassl rejected 28 shots on goal for the Cyclones. Listowel incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The 99ers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
