London pulls away in second, rolls over Strathroy, 7-1Western Fair CC Wed, Jan 20, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Strathroy Rockets allowed the London Nationals to net three goals during the second period and fell, 7-1. London got the win behind a great game by Brenden Trottier, who had two goals and two assists. Trottier scored the first of his two goals at 17:10 into the first period to make the score 2-1 London. Trevor Dulong provided the assist. Trottier's next tally made the score 3-1 London with 15:48 left in the second period. Callum Ruddock assisted on the tally. The Nationals were led by goalie Zack Weir, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Weir certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.99 entering the contest. London forced Rockets' goaltenders to work in net, finishing with 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Dan Davies made 16 stops and Dane Gubbels made 18. The Nationals stifled Strathroy's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. London's goal total was higher than its season average. The Nationals have scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign. London also got points from Austin Kemp, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Max Vinogradov, who also racked up two goals and one assist. London also got a goal from John Warren as well. In addition, London received assists from Jordan Di Cicco, John Adams, and Colin Wilson, who contributed one each and Tanner Ferreira and Matt Doty, who each chipped in two. The Rockets were led by Shane Bulitka, who scored the team's only goal. Bulitka scored 4:05 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dalton Good picked up the assist. London incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Strathroy incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
