Guelph falls to Waterloo after surprising comeback

The Guelph Hurricanes could not hold down the Waterloo Siskins, and Siskins erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win.

Waterloo never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Siskins was down 3-1 after a goal by Guelph's Corson Searles at 5:28 in the second period. Waterloo tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Austin Bentley at 1:12 in the third period. The Siskins got the game winner at 1:40 in the third period on a goal by Bentley.

Bentley had two goals and one assist to lead Waterloo.

The Siskins excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Hurricanes were unable to stop Waterloo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Siskins eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Waterloo also had goals scored by Nick King and Anthony Pullicino, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Conner Jean, Luke Gazzola, Nick Hirst, Brett Schaefer, and Nate Schnarr, who contributed one each.

Guelph's offense rang up 37 shots on Waterloo's net.

The Hurricanes were helped by Lucas Dybowski, who grabbed one goal. Dybowski scored 3:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Guelph. Kevin Gergely assisted on the tally. Guelph also got a goal from Dylan Wallace as well. More assists for Guelph came via Jake Wyse and Quinn Hanna, who each chipped in one.

The Siskins' Bailey DeGasperis stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Waterloo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Christian Propp made 31 saves for Guelph on 35 shots. The Hurricanes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
