Caledonia rides Sinclair to victory over St. Catharines, 4-1

Mark Sinclair had a standout game with 26 saves, and the Caledonia Corvairs beat the St. Catharines Falcons 4-1.

Tyler Hill was all over the ice for Caledonia, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Hill scored 1:07 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Blake Luscombe assisted on the tally.

The Corvairs' penalty kill excelled, as Caledonia gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

The Corvairs forced St. Catharines goalie Joel Horodziejczyk to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots. Caledonia was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 38 penalty minutes.

Caledonia also had goals scored by Austin Brown, Mitchell Fitzmorris, and Matthew Hore, who each put in one. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Jordan Brown, Chadd Bauman, and Johnathon Schaefer, who each chipped in one.

The Falcons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Corvairs to score on any of their seven power plays. St. Catharines did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Falcons put an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. St. Catharines could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Falcons were led by Nicholas Dozzi, who scored the team's only goal. Dozzi scored on the power play 19:51 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. St. Catharines earned a power play opportunity when Nick Zottl was put in the box for roughing. Brandon Vuic picked up the assist.

Joel Horodziejczyk made 48 saves for the Falcons on 51 shots.
