Ross leads Cambridge over Brampton, 10-5

Sean Ross was all over the ice for the Cambridge Winter Hawks, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Cambridge's 10-5 win over the Brampton Bombers.

Ross scored on the power play 16:31 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cambridge. The Winter Hawks earned a power play opportunity when Mitch Shennette was put in the box for slashing. Jonathan Giordano picked up the assist. Ross dished an assist on Mitch Montgomery's goal that made the score 3-2 Cambridge at 19:00 into the first period. He then added assists on Kyle Heitzner's goal at 5:11 into the second and on Heitzner's goal at 18:48 into the second.

Brampton's 18 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Bombers let up six goals while on the penalty kill.

Cambridge forced Brampton's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 36 shots and forcing 26 saves. Eric Pitcher made one stops and Jason Rhynold made 25. The Winter Hawks outdid their season average for goals scored. Cambridge averages 2.7 goals per game. The Winter Hawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 46 penalty minutes.

Cambridge additionally got points from Scott Del Zotto, who also had two goals and one assist, Heitzner, who also tallied three goals and one assist, and Jake Beard, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cambridge also got a goal from Liam Hurley as well. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Matt MacKay, who had two, Robert Proner, who had three, and Yianni Skropolis, Cameron Chubb, Mathieu Mercier, and Matt Steen, who each chipped in one.

Cambridge was unable to stop the Bombers from sending pucks towards the net, and Brampton eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Bombers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 76 minutes in penalties during the game.

Brampton also got points from Jonathan Prasnjak, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Patrick Zilak, who also had one goal and one assist. Brampton also had goals scored by Cameron Cruickshank and Jordan Kreller, who scored one goal each. More assists for Brampton came via Joseph Spina and Yianni Liarakos, who contributed one each and Nolan Regan and Adel Zivojevic, who each chipped in two.

Scott Patton made 31 saves for the Winter Hawks on 36 shots. Brampton registered three goals on nine power play opportunities. For the Bombers, Chris Arsenault was ejected from the game.
