Stratford erases deficit to stun Waterloo, 7-6Allman Arena Fri, Jan 15, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stratford Cullitons climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Waterloo Siskins, 7-6. Stratford let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Cullitons took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Justin Graham at 3:25 in the first period. Stratford went down 6-4 after Waterloo's Conner Jean put the puck home at 13:21 in the third period. After knotting things up at 6-6 on a goal by Jack Scanlan at 15:50 in the third, the Cullitons got the game-winner from Jared Nash at 18:42 in the third period. The Siskins were unable to stop Stratford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cullitons eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Stratford found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Cullitons average 4.7 goals per contest. Stratford cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances. Stratford also got points from Joe Leahy, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Tyson Baker, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Stratford came via Deven Kropf, who had three, Hayden Broomhead, Zach Van Louwe, and Josh Miller, who each chipped in one, and Zander Pryor and Drew Gross, who contributed two each. Waterloo kept the Cullitons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Carson Poulin made 25 saves on 31 shots. The Siskins outdid their season average for goals scored. Waterloo averages 3.0 goals per game. The Siskins' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Waterloo finished with 26 penalty minutes. The Siskins were helped by Jared Lindsay, who grabbed two goals. Lindsay scored the first of his two goals at 5:21 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Anthony Pullicino provided the assist. Lindsay's next tally made the score 5-4 Waterloo with 11:59 left in the third period. Pullicino assisted on the tally. Waterloo additionally got points from Jean, who also had one goal and two assists, Pullicino, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Nate Schnarr, who also registered one goal and one assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Andrew Lane as well. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Austin Bentley, who had two and Nick King, Lucas Goodman, and Nick Hirst, who each chipped in one. Stratford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mitchell Datz rejected 35 shots on goal for Waterloo. The Siskins registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
