Anthony Merante gave the Thorold Blackhawks a 4-3 (OT) victory over the St. Catharines Falcons when he scored 3:55 into the extra period.

Merante had a great game for Thorold, netting two goals.

The Blackhawks stifled St. Catharines' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Others who scored for Thorold included Brendan D`Agostino and Mitchell Mendonca, who scored one goal each. In addition, Thorold received assists from Jake Lloyd, who had two and Anton Trublin, Aaron Nunes, Francois Plamondon, Tyler Sehovic, and Cal Davis, who contributed one each.

The Falcons forced Thorold goalie Josh Astorino to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

St. Catharines was helped by Tyler Hildebrandt, who finished with one goal. Hildebrandt scored 7:43 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Brandon Cercone assisted on the tally. St. Catharines also got points from Brandon Vuic, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Catharines also got a goal from Broderick Kelly as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Jackson Parker, Tyler Jackson, Jake Evans, and Nicholas Dozzi, who each chipped in one.

Josh Astorino made 39 saves for the Blackhawks on 42 shots. Thorold incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Blackhawks, Nick Sacco was ejected from the game. Joel Horodziejczyk recorded 21 saves for the Falcons. St. Catharines incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
