The Sarnia Legionnaires' Ryan Trottier scored 2:23 into overtime to beat the Strathroy Rockets, 8-7 (OT). Sarnia almost relinquished a three-score lead. The Legionnaires made it 7-4 on a power play goal by Ryan Vendramin at 4:44 in the third period. Strathroy pulled to within 7-6 on a power play goal by Shane Bulitka at 13:16 in the third period. Sarnia surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Legionnaires have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Sarnia cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring five goals on six chances. Sarnia also got points from Trottier, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Brock Perry, who also registered one goal and one assist. Sarnia also had goals scored by Jacob Stos, Hunter Tyczynski, and Brad Yowart, who each put in one. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Brandon Layman, who had two, Jordan Fogarty, who had three, and Zack Vanderwal, Ethan Dupont, Brett Storr, Joey Zappa, and Alec DeKoning, who each chipped in one. The Rockets kept the Legionnaires' goalie busy throughout the game, and Aidan Hughes made 26 saves on 33 shots. Strathroy outdid its season average for goals scored. The Rockets average 2.7 goals per game. Strathroy could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Strathroy additionally got points from Wesley Kelly, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Lucas Latina, who also had one goal and two assists, and TJ Harris, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Strathroy also got a goal from Steve Griggs as well. More assists for Strathroy came via Noah Tooke, who had one and Matt Laberge and Max Ewart, who each chipped in three. Sarnia incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Rockets' starting goalie, Dan Davies, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Dane Gubbels, who stopped 11 shots. Strathroy registered three goals on six power play opportunities. For the Rockets, Kieran Milne was ejected from the game.
