London survives Chatham comeback, wins 10-8

The London Nationals came close to giving away a four-goal lead to the Chatham Maroons, but did just enough to escape with a 10-8 victory.

London led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Nationals' John Warren scored on the power play at 8:04 in the second period to put London up 6-2.

The Nationals got the win behind a great game by Trevor Dulong, who had two goals and one assist. Dulong scored the first of his two goals short handed at 8:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London. London was on a disadvantage when Derek Di Iorio went off the ice for holding. Rai Di Loreto provided the assist. Dulong's next tally short handed made the score 7-5 London with 16:09 left in the third period. Scott Goodman picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:50 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Nationals forced Chatham goalie Parker Butler to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. London found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Nationals average 4.3 goals per game. London was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

London also got points from Scott Dorion, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Austin Kemp, who also registered two goals and one assist, Di Loreto, who also had one goal and one assist, and Warren, who also finished with one goal and one assist. London also got a goal from Alex Cimino as well. More assists for London came via Brenden Trottier, who had three and Jordan Di Cicco, Sam Harris, and Max Vinogradov, who contributed one each.

The Maroons' offense rang up 49 shots on the Nationals' net. Chatham surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Maroons have scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Chatham was helped by Teddy McGeen, who grabbed three goals. Chatham additionally got points from Connor Koviak, who also had one goal and two assists, Mark Fratarcangelli, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Ross Krieger, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Chatham also had goals scored by Gus Ford and Chris Corgan, who each put in one. In addition, Chatham received assists from Ian Faubert, who had two and Dede Cato, Ryan Fraser, Declan Conway, Steven Beenackers, and Blair Derynck, who each chipped in one.

Connor Hughes recorded 41 saves for London. The Nationals ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For London, Matt Doty was ejected from the game. Parker Butler made 35 saves for the Maroons on 44 shots. Chatham totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Maroons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cato was ejected from the game.
