Chris Janzen had a standout game with 28 saves, and the Welland Jr. Canadians beat the Thorold Blackhawks 5-1.

Welland was led by Jake Shaw, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Shaw scored on the power play 12:02 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Welland. The Jr. Canadians had taken the advantage when Thorold's Tyler Sehovic got sent off for hooking. Nathan MacDuff picked up the assist.

Welland's offense rang up 40 shots on the Blackhawks' net. The Jr. Canadians outdid their season average for goals scored. Welland averages 2.7 goals per game.

Welland also got points from Matt Martin, who also registered one goal and one assist. Welland also got a goal from Tyler Stranges as well. Thorold was led by Nick Sacco, who scored the team's only goal. Sacco scored 17:04 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Welland. Sehovic assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Canadians incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Josh Astorino recorded 35 saves for the Blackhawks. Thorold incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Blackhawks, Daniel Pugliese was ejected from the game.
