Listowel beats Guelph 3-2 after comeback scare

The Guelph Hurricanes tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Listowel Cyclones held on for a 3-2 victory.

Listowel made the score 3-0 on a goal by Riley Robertson at 19:58 in the first period, and Guelph got as close as 3-2 when Jake Wyse scored 19:26 into the third period.

The Cyclones cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

Listowel was led by Jamie Huber, who racked up one goal and one assist. Huber scored 11:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel. Austin Huizenga assisted on the tally. Listowel also got a goal from Tim Nauta as well. In addition, Listowel received assists from Keaton Willis, Jordan Caskenette, Holdyn Lansink, and Ben Shelley, who contributed one each.

The Hurricanes kept the Cyclones' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Fassl made 36 saves on 38 shots.

Guelph was led by Brody Milne, who had one goal and one assist. Milne scored on the power play 13:27 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Listowel. The Hurricanes had gained a power play chance when Robertson was whistled for high sticking. Sebastian Stangherlin picked up the assist. More assists for Guelph came via Sean Power and Tyler Burns, who each chipped in one.

Listowel incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jason DaSilva recorded 24 saves for Guelph. The Hurricanes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
