St. Thomas blows out Chatham, 6-2

The St. Thomas Stars were firing on all cylinders against the Chatham Maroons, and when the final buzzer sounded Stars emerged with a 6-2 win.

Adam Keyes was all over the ice for St. Thomas, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Keyes scored 6:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas. Matt MacPherson assisted on the tally.

The Stars kept Chatham's goalie busy throughout the game, and Parker Butler made 27 saves on 33 shots.

St. Thomas also got points from Spencer Hutchinson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Carson Brookshaw, who also had one goal and one assist, and Andrew Chambers, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for St. Thomas included Ethan Nother and Cal Horvat, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Gage Stephney, who had one and Matt McJannet, who had two.

The Maroons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Chatham did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Maroons put an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. St. Thomas was unable to stop Chatham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Maroons eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Chatham was led by Steven Beenackers, who finished with one goal and one assist. Beenackers scored 11:15 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Thomas. Josh Barraclough provided the assist. Connor Koviak also scored for Chatham. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Gus Ford and Michael Levesque, who each chipped in one.

Nikolas Dampier made 36 saves for the Stars on 38 shots. St. Thomas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Maroons incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
