St. Catharines' comeback falls short, Caledonia wins 4-2

The Caledonia Corvairs came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the St. Catharines Falcons, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Caledonia led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Corvairs' Mitch Graham scored at 46 seconds in the second period to put Caledonia up 3-0.

Quentin Maksimovich had two goals and one assist to lead the Corvairs. Maksimovich scored the first of his two goals at 13:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Graham assisted on the tally. Maksimovich's next tally made the score 4-2 Caledonia with 12:16 left in the third period. Corey Pawley picked up the assist.

Caledonia pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 48 penalty minutes.

The Corvairs' offense rang up 35 shots on St. Catharines' net.

Caledonia also got points from Graham, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Mitchell Fitzmorris, who also had one goal and two assists. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Chadd Bauman and Johnathon Schaefer, who contributed one each.

The Falcons were helped by Brandon Vuic, who registered one goal. Vuic scored on the power play 12:35 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia. A goalie interference penalty on Matt McCartney had put St. Catharines on the power play. Tyler Jackson provided the assist. St. Catharines also got a goal from Justin Felker as well. More assists for St. Catharines came via Jake Evans, who had one and Tyler Hildebrandt, who had two.

Mark Sinclair made 23 saves for Caledonia on 25 shots. The Corvairs registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Falcons' Cameron Gray stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. St. Catharines incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
