Ancaster rolls over Welland, 7-0Morgan Firestone Sat, Dec 19, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Welland Jr. Canadians had trouble finding ways to stop the Ancaster Avalanche, which beat Jr. Canadians, 7-0. Ryan Cox had one goal and four assists to lead Ancaster. Cox scored 12:13 into the third period to make the score 6-0 Ancaster. Dustin Burr picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:10 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Avalanche excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Ancaster's offense rang up 48 shots on Welland's net. The Avalanche's goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Ancaster averages 4.1 goals per contest. Ancaster also got points from Lucas Pozzobon, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ancaster also got a goal from Jesse Hilton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ancaster were Ben Hughes, who had three and Ryan Sullivan, Owen Norton, Owen Burnell, and Joshua Pace, who contributed one each. The Jr. Canadians did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Welland puts an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game. Cole Ceci recorded 22 saves for the Avalanche. Ancaster totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Avalanche ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Knill was ejected from the game. Chris Janzen made 41 saves for the Jr. Canadians on 48 shots. Welland ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For the Jr. Canadians, Matt Martin was ejected from the game.
