Chatham downs Strathroy in overtime, 2-1 (OT)West Middlesex Arena Sat, Dec 19, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Ross Krieger gave the Chatham Maroons a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Strathroy Rockets when he scored 2:26 into the extra period. Strathroy was stymied by Chatham's netminder Parker Butler, who stopped 40 shots during the victory. The solid play of Butler will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.11. The Maroons' penalty kill excelled, as Chatham gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. The Maroons' offense operated below their season average. Chatham puts an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. The Rockets were unable to stop the Maroons from sending pucks towards the net, and Chatham eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. The Maroons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Chatham also got a goal from Blair Derynck as well. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Michael Douglas and Connor Koviak, who contributed one each. Strathroy's offense rang up 41 shots on Chatham's net. The Rockets were led by TJ Harris, who scored the team's only goal. Harris scored on the power play 15:31 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Strathroy had gotten the advantage when the Maroons' Ian Faubert was sent off for tripping. Shane Bulitka picked up the assist. Chatham registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Rockets' Dane Gubbels stopped 43 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Strathroy incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
