Evans leads Fort Erie over Thorold, 6-1

Ben Evans was all over the ice for the Fort Erie Meteors, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Fort Erie's 6-1 win over the Thorold Blackhawks.

Evans got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 1:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fort Erie. Holden Garlent picked up the assist. Evans dished an assist on Evan Krassey's goal that made the score 1-0 Fort Erie at 6:05 into the first period. He then added assists on Krassey's goal at 4:11 into the second and on Troy Henley's goal at 12:50 into the second.

The Meteors stifled Thorold's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fort Erie forced the Blackhawks goalie Josh Astorino to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Meteors surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Fort Erie averages 3.6 goals per game. The Meteors got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Fort Erie additionally got points from Bryce Martin, who also registered one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Anthony Passero, who had three and Paolo Sivilotti and Mackenzie Passero, who each chipped in one.

Thorold was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

The Blackhawks were led by Aaron Nunes, who scored the team's only goal. Nunes scored 6:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tyler Sehovic assisted on the tally.

Riley Daniels recorded 24 saves for Fort Erie. The Meteors incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Josh Astorino made 26 saves for Thorold on 32 shots. The Blackhawks registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
