Waterloo downs Cambridge, 6-2

Brett Schaefer had one point to lead the Waterloo Siskins to a 6-2 victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

Waterloo forced Cambridge goalie Scott Patton to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Siskins surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Waterloo averages 2.8 goals per game.

Others who scored for Waterloo included Austin Bentley, who had two and Anders Adzija, Draxton Dachett, and Owen Kipke, who scored one goal each. More assists for Waterloo came via Jesse Hewak, who had three, Andrew Lane, Brent West, Noah Benjamin, Nick King, and Joel Penticost, who each chipped in one, and Jared Lindsay and Ryan Sparkes, who contributed two each.

The Winter Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Cambridge was led by Matt MacKay, who registered one goal. MacKay scored 14:51 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Waterloo. Alex Mutton provided the assist. Jake Beard also scored for Cambridge. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Kyle Heitzner, Cole Cummings, and Zack Hedley, who each chipped in one.

Mitchell Datz rejected 23 shots on goal for the Siskins. Waterloo incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Scott Patton made 29 saves for the Winter Hawks on 35 shots. Cambridge incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
