Phibbs' hat trick boosts Brantford over Waterloo, 6-2Gretzky Main Rink Thu, Dec 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Jack Phibbs was the highlight in 99ers' 6-2 win against the Waterloo Siskins. Phibbs notched his first tally 19:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:16 into the second and at 5:24 into the third.The Brantford 99ers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Brantford averages 2.6 goals per game. The 99ers found themselves short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. Brantford additionally got points from Kyle Walker, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Nick Visser also scored for Brantford. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Matt Scanlin, who had two, Isaac Nurse, who had four, and Jay Dekker, Alec Tiley, Brandon Scanlin, and Bryce O`Brien, who contributed one each. Waterloo's offense rang up 44 shots on Brantford's net. The Siskins' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Waterloo was helped by Nick Hirst, who racked up one goal. Hirst scored on the power play 1:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo. The Siskins had taken the advantage when the 99ers' Nurse got sent off for hooking. Mitchell Rooney provided the assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Andrew Lane as well. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Luke Gazzola, Owen Kipke, and Ryan Sparkes, who each chipped in one. Will Rawski rejected 42 shots on goal for Brantford. The 99ers registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Bailey DeGasperis recorded 20 saves for Waterloo. The Siskins incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
