Amante leads Leamington over Lambton Shores, 8-1

Mitchell Amante had two goals and two assists to lead the Leamington Flyers to an 8-1 victory over the Lambton Shores Predators.

Amante's tallies came short handed at 17:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Leamington and 15:34 into the second to make the score 4-1 Leamington.

Leamington's penalty kill excelled, as the Flyers gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Leamington stifled Lambton Shores' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Flyers forced the Predators goalie Anthony Hurtubise to work between the pipes, taking 61 shots. Leamington outdid its season average for goals scored. The Flyers have scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Leamington could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Leamington additionally got points from Luke Sanko, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Matthew Opblinger, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Derek Elliott, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Leamington also had goals scored by J.P. Grineau, Brett Vorshuk, and Mark Gangnon, who scored one goal each. In addition, Leamington received assists from Scott Emerson, who had two and Zak Parlette, Cale Phibbs, and Thomas Virban, who contributed one each.

Lambton Shores could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Predators were led by Connor Merritt, who scored the team's only goal. Merritt scored 5:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Leamington. C.J. Kusch assisted on the tally.

The Flyers' Tyler Wall stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Leamington registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Hurtubise rejected 53 shots on goal for Lambton Shores.
