Kitchener completes comeback, beats Elmira, 4-3

The Kitchener Dutchmen climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Elmira Sugar Kings, 4-3.

Kitchener never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Dutchmen trailed 3-1 after a short handed goal by Elmira's Dawson Shackelton at 15:35 in the second period. Kitchener tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Alex Demrovsky at 2:52 in the third period. The Dutchmen netted the game winner at 17:08 in the third period on a goal by Demrovsky.

Kitchener was led by Connor Cole, who finished with one goal.

The Dutchmen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Elmira power plays. Kitchener kept the Sugar Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Liam Devine made 34 saves on 38 shots.

Kitchener additionally got points from Owen Lane, who also had one goal and one assist. Jason Willms also scored for Kitchener. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Curtis Smith and Adam Kawalec, who each chipped in one and Taite Wirschke and Nathan Grossi, who contributed two each.

Elmira forced the Dutchmen goalie Cossimo Lazzarino to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

The Sugar Kings were helped by Ty Biles, who racked up one goal. Biles scored 11:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Ryley Cribbin assisted on the tally. Elmira also got a goal from Quinten Bruce as well. More assists for Elmira came via Mitch Montgomery, Ethan Skinner, and Jake Moggy, who each chipped in one.

Cossimo Lazzarino made 36 saves for Kitchener on 39 shots. The Dutchmen incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Elmira incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
