A stellar performance between the pipes by Carson Poulin helped the Stratford Cullitons defeat the Brantford 99ers, 2-1. Brantford's power play was ineffective against Stratford's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Cullitons were sparked by Hayden Broomhead, who tallied one goal. Broomhead scored 16:56 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. Tyson Baker picked up the assist. Stratford could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Cullitons average 4.6 goals per game. Stratford also got a goal from Josh Miller as well. More assists for Stratford came via Jared Nash, who had two. The 99ers were led by Isaac Nurse, who scored the team's only goal. Nurse scored on the power play 8:56 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Brantford. Brantford had gained a power play chance when Brock Heshka was whistled for slashing. Brandon Scanlin assisted on the tally. Stratford's Poulin stopped 28 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Cullitons incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Will Rawski rejected 28 shots on goal for the 99ers. Brantford incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
