Fort Erie rolls over Pelham, 8-2

The Pelham Panthers had trouble finding ways to stop the Fort Erie Meteors, which beat Panthers, 8-2.

Holden Garlent was all over the ice for Fort Erie, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Garlent scored 3:18 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fort Erie. Anthony Passero assisted on the tally.

The Meteors' penalty kill excelled, as Fort Erie gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:00 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Meteors were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and four majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game Fort Erie had been spending in the box. The Meteors kept Pelham's goalie busy throughout the game, and Stephen Harvey made 40 saves on 48 shots. Fort Erie surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Meteors average 3.6 goals per game.

Fort Erie also got points from Dakota Miskolczi, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Ben Evans, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Manny Manns, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Fort Erie included Bryce Martin, Mike Masotti, and Evan Krassey, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Frankie Franck, who had one, Danial Singer, who had two, and Darien Kielb, who had three.

The Panthers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and three majors for 49 minutes in penalty time. Pelham surpassed its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Panthers were helped by Thomas Young, who had one goal. Young scored on the power play 6:58 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fort Erie. A high sticking penalty on Kielb had put Pelham on the power play. Jeffrey Venzon picked up the assist. Pelham additionally got points from Venzon, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Pelham received assists from Brandon MacKinnon, who had one and Zachary Plumb, who had two.

Riley Daniels recorded 25 saves for Fort Erie. The Meteors registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Fort Erie, Martin, Passero, Garlent, and Garrett Jennings were ejected from the contest. Team's Dylan Cancilla, Young, and Cameron DeFazio were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
