Niagara Falls rips Ancaster, 5-2

The Ancaster Avalanche had trouble finding ways to stop the Niagara Falls Canucks, which beat Avalanche, 5-2.

Niagara Falls got the win thanks to a great game by Johnny Curran, who had one goal and two assists. Curran scored on the power play 12:38 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Niagara Falls. The Canucks had gained a power play chance when Josh Pace was whistled for interference. Andrew Barbeau picked up the assist.

Niagara Falls' penalty kill excelled, as the Canucks gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Niagara Falls forced Ancaster goalie Cole Ceci to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Niagara Falls also got points from Barbeau, who also registered one goal and one assist. Niagara Falls also got a goal from Frank Pucci as well. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Zack Lansfield, who had two and Taggart Ledyard, Kevin Boyd, Sean Farquharson, Scott Grieve, and Luke Laurin, who each chipped in one.

The Avalanche kept the Canucks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joseph Murdaca made 42 saves on 44 shots.

Ancaster was led by Owen Burnell, who racked up two goals. Burnell scored the first of his two goals at 19:47 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Niagara Falls. Burnell's next tally made the score 5-2 Niagara Falls with 7:28 left in the third period. An interference penalty on Matthew Baldinelli had put the Avalanche on the power play. Max Balinson assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Ancaster were Ben Hughes, who had one.

Niagara Falls incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Ceci rejected 31 shots on goal for Ancaster. The Avalanche incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
